Guido Gambone was a celebrated Italian ceramicist recognized for blending traditional craftsmanship with modern, painterly techniques. Born in 1909 in Montella di Avellino, Gambone moved to Vietri sul Mare in 1927, where he trained in ceramics and became the artistic director at the Industria Ceramica Salernitana in 1935. In 1939, he returned to Vietri and co-founded La Faenzarella pottery, renowned for its thick, vibrant glazes and painterly patterns. His work earned him the prestigious Premio Faenza multiple times, starting in 1947.
In 1950, Gambone relocated to Florence, where he founded La Tirrena pottery. That same year, he exhibited at the 25th Venice Biennale, marking a key moment in his international recognition. His work was also featured at major museums, including the Brooklyn Museum. Gambone's legacy continues to influence contemporary ceramic artists, with his pieces still highly prized by collectors
